There is a growing bank of evidence and experience to suggest that green space is good for people’s health and well-being. SCDA aims to:

  • Raise awareness and develop involvement by all sections of the local community in green and blue open spaces (GBOSH)
  • Create and sustain opportunities for learning, volunteering and recreation which promote interaction with the natural environment
  • Promote the use of green and open space for health and well-being, particularly among disadvantaged social groups and those with specific health needs
  • Promote and encourage growing food for health
