There’s always lots going on for children and families with SCDA. Come and join the fun – there’s something for all ages!
Family activities are based at Denton Island Community Centre in Newhaven. Close to bus stops and the railways station, and with a free car park, the centre is a spacious, peaceful space for our range of fun activities and courses. Look out also for Family Learning courses taking place across East Sussex – from Hailsham to Eastbourne, there’s bound to be a fun activity near you!
We have a drop in group for babies through to pre-school aged children called Jitterbugs. A variety of family learning courses for parents and their children of all ages. Holiday Activities and Food Scheme school holiday programme in the school holidays Easter, Summer and Christmas for children aged 7-11years on free school meals related benefits.
We have funding through Children in Need to deliver Forest School and Beach School sessions, as well as other outdoor activities such as bicycle maintenance and skills workshops.
As well as all of the activities above we also work closely with Newhaven Families Forum (NFF) – who are a group of local parents/carers who meet regularly. These volunteers also run Newhaven’s Uniform Bank.
