Organisational Structures, Policies & Procedures, Roles & Responsibilities

This online training session provides an in-depth exploration of community group structures, helping participants build a clear understanding of how groups are organised and why structure matters. It will introduce the concept of group structures, outlining what they are, how they function, and the different models that community groups may adopt. The session will also examine the key differences between these structures, highlighting how each approach can influence decision-making, accountability, and overall effectiveness.

Participants will be guided through the essential policies that community groups should have in place, particularly when applying for funding and ensuring strong governance. The session will expand on why these policies are important, how they support transparency and compliance, and how they can strengthen funding applications and long-term sustainability.

In addition, the training will cover committee roles, explaining the responsibilities and expectations associated with different positions. It will explore how clearly defined roles contribute to effective leadership, shared responsibility, and smooth organisational functioning.

By the end of the session, participants will have a more comprehensive understanding of how to navigate community group structures, recognise key differences between them, and identify the policies and roles needed to support effective governance and successful funding applications.
