The Ouse Valley CARES Project (Climate Action, Resilient Ecosystems and Sustainability) is an ambitious and exciting community Lottery funded project, with main partners the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) and SCDA. The project also has a number of partners with both community and climate focus, such as 3VA Transition Town Lewes, Seaford Community Partnership, Lewes Railway Land OVESCO, Lewes Climate Hub and Lewes Climate Action Forum.
The Ouse Valley CARES partnership has won funding from the National Lottery to develop an ambitious vision for the Ouse Valley community to become a national pioneer in tackling climate change and increasing sustainability.
The development phase
In the first year we plan to encourage community groups to engage with the project and support them with training and advice. Our aim is to also reach out into communities to ensure underrepresented sections of the community are included, and young people will be given a voice to develop their projects and ideas.
The Ouse Valley project includes a large area from Barcombe to Newhaven through the Ouse Valley, and including Seaford and Peacehaven.
