Ouse Valley CARES Project

The Ouse Valley CARES Project (Climate Action, Resilient Ecosystems and Sustainability) is an ambitious and exciting community Lottery funded project, with main partners the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) and SCDA. The project also has a number of partners with both community and climate focus, such as 3VA Transition Town Lewes, Seaford Community Partnership, Lewes Railway Land OVESCO, Lewes Climate Hub and Lewes Climate Action Forum.

The Ouse Valley CARES partnership has won funding from the National Lottery to develop an ambitious vision for the Ouse Valley community to become a national pioneer in tackling climate change and increasing sustainability.

The development phase

The development phase of the project is now well underway with local groups being contacted to learn about their environmental projects.  Many local events have been attended to meet communities and gather information on local issues.

Other work includes finding local energy champions to help communities reduce their energy bills, mapping the project area and running an electric bike and vehicle event in Newhaven – we look forward to seeing you at future events!
