Coronavirus (Covid 19):

SCDA are working hard to ensure we minimise any risks of Covid 19 to the people who access our services, staff and volunteers.  We are following the latest guidance  from government to ensure our staff, volunteers and service users stay safe and healthy.

We continue to maintain our service delivery, where possible and we are adapting delivery so that we can continue to help local people. We will advise of any changes and reductions to our services, for example telephone appointments.

Keep up to date with SCDA community events! The annual Fish Festival, regular events and the Christmas Extravaganza all take place in Newhaven, details below:

Fish Festival 2020

We have made the decision to postpone this year’s annual Fish Festival and Children’s Parade in the hope that we will be able to reschedule for August 2020. The date will be under review until we have clear information in regards to Covid-19 and mass gatherings.

Fish Festival 2019

Crowds gathered on a beautiful sunny day at West Quay lawns in Newhaven  on 15th June for the annual Fish Festival. This popular event, celebrating Newhaven’s fishing industry, is now in its 16th year. 3,000 people came along to enjoy old favourites including the Children’s Parade, community group stalls, local businesses on the promenade, art displays, children and youth activities, bouncy castle and live entertainment throughout the day on the green. Fish was available for sale at Bickerstaff’s shop and there were plenty of takers for the delicious food and refreshments.

Carly Norris, SCDA Community Development Worker said, ‘The day went really well! We would like to thank everyone who helped organise the Fish Festival and are thrilled so many people came along and enjoyed themselves. A huge thank you to Newhaven Town Council, Veolia and Rampion who support this significant community event every year.’
