SCDA Trustee

Would you like to make a real difference to people at a local level? Do you have specific skills and experience that you could bring to a Charity’s Board? If the answer is yes, have you considered being a Trustee?
Who are Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA)?
We strengthen local communities by providing a range of local services to people in need across East Sussex including a nursery, youth centre, food bank, community centres, supporting health and well-being and, offering information & helping people back into work. We need Trustees who can support our Governance and particularly seek people who have:
finance and commercial skills; business and social enterprise; marketing and promotions and charitable fundraising. Specific awareness of issues relating to health and wellbeing and the needs of disadvantaged communities would be welcomed.
SCDA is looking for effective people to join its Board of Trustees in realising our ambitious goals to make a difference in local communities and for local people. SCDA Trustees are key to helping make this happen.

Bike Technician, Newhaven

Our Recycle project based on Denton Island, Newhaven needs volunteers who are interested in learning how to mend and refurbish donated bikes. Our shops are located in High Street, Newhaven and High Street, Lewes. The shops provide useful income for our community projects as well as a friendly space for people to meet up and to volunteer. Denton Island Community Centre, Newhaven

Crèche Support: Support our term time crèche which looks after children aged 0-5 years old on Wednesday mornings 9:30am-12:30pm. Must be able to complete an enhanced DBS check and Child Protection Training.

Volunteer cycle pilots needed, Bexhill

The Charter Centre owns a tri-shaw that was kindly donated by Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to helping elderly citizens and others who would benefit from the ‘cycling experience’ of the tri-shaw. Volunteers can sign up as pilots or as admin / operational support. Cycle pilot training takes place weekly, please call for more information.

 Cycle pilots, we are looking for people who: 

  • Share the passion of cycling.
  • Have time to train in the week with other pilots
  • Are motivated and have a passion to help others
  • Enjoy the company of elderly people and people of all ages
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, and un-assisted
  • Have a passion for helping others


  • Have organisational and admin skills
  • To assist the group facilitator with the running of the group.
  • You will benefit from being part of an international movement
