Senior Community Development Worker – Ouse Valley CARES Project
21 hours per week – 1 year fixed term contract
Based Newhaven with travel to partner locations across Lewes District
Salary range, dependent on skill & experience: £23,541 – £27,041 per annum pro rata

Sitting within our Community Development & Health team you will work in close collaboration with the Ouse Valley CARES Project Development Worker, employed by the South Downs National Park, and alongside our Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) programme, supporting community engagement with the Ouse Valley CARES (Climate Action, Resilient Ecosystems, Sustainability) Climate Change programme:

1. Helping groups and communities make their ideas happen in the development phase.
2. Helping the project reach and involve all parts of the community.
3. Providing training to turn ideas into action and enable projects and groups to grow and be sustainable in collaboration with 3VA and other partners.
4. Giving young people and other protected characteristic groups a voice by:
 Involving them in decision-making.
 Reaching out to include them.
 Developing ideas and project based upon their energy and input.
 Growing youth, older people, those with disabilities and local individuals and groups with diverse cultural heritages.
 Individuals and groups with diverse cultural heritage involvement across the partnership.

Ensuring and supporting reach into under-represented sections of the community, you will facilitate the development of their ideas, enabling individuals and communities to direct their community-led services, in order to address the climate and ecological emergency at a local level and build local resilience.
Reporting to the Community Development & Health Programme Manager this role supports the input of local volunteers. With responsibility for contributing to the development of future funding the post holder will also design, deliver, evaluate and report to funders and partners with regard to activities and services.
You will be a motivated self-starter who is able to plan and manage time effectively, use your initiative and have a flexible & positive approach to community engagement. The post is subject to a DBS check. Being a car owner and driver is preferred.
