Senior Community Development Worker – Newhaven
25 hours per week- Fixed term for 1 year in the first instance
Based Newhaven
Salary range, dependent on skill & experience: £23,541 – £27,041 per annum pro rata
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Community Development Worker to develop and sometimes deliver a range of suitable activities and events and promote awareness and usage of Denton Island Community Centre. The Senior Community Development Worker will additionally co-ordinate at least two annual community interest events, and two annual volunteer celebration /awareness raising events.
The post holder will support the running of the Centre, and the Community Services Programme Manager, with general H&S awareness and Centre Volunteer recruitment, support and direction as required.
With some input to funding tenders for SCDA community activities, the post holder will ensure quality of provision and that services, courses and activities run to agreed schedules & budgets.
You will work in collaboration with the local community and others, using a range of community consultation, to further develop services & activities within the changing delivery methods necessitated by the impact of Covid-19.
Working from a Newhaven location, you will build partnerships in the community with stakeholders and local people, encouraging volunteering and developing Covid-modified activities to suit the audience. Your role will be to develop community engagement, helping local people get connected to improve neighbourhoods and meet identified needs.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Significant and proven experience of project and service development, delivering and evaluating services & activities in the community
Training/coaching and delivery to groups
Supervisory experience, inc volunteers
Experience of partnership and multi-agency working
Experience of reporting, monitoring and evaluating
Experience of collaborating on and/or writing funding bids would be an advantage.
You will be a motivated self-starter who is able to plan and manage time effectively, use your initiative and have a flexible & positive approach to community engagement. The post is subject to a DBS check. Being a car owner and driver is preferred.
