Our colleagues provide vital services and support to local residents in Newhaven and across East Sussex, one of these is the Seahaven foodbank which provides an emergency food parcel service for people and families in times of crisis. These are generally people who suddenly find themselves facing poverty and hunger due to loss of salary, change in benefits, unexpected large bills, illness or family breakdown. The role will promote and strengthen our service, creating and enhancing existing partnerships to ensure a sustainable service and throughput of donations required during these challenging times, and for the future.

Essential to this role is experience of managing people/volunteers and an ability to work with people from disadvantaged, marginalised or socially excluded backgrounds.

The role requires a level of physical fitness to handle the movement of food, safe lifting and handling training will be provided. You will have excellent organisational skills, great attention to detail and be able to manage a busy and varied workload. As an SCDA employee you will be an ambassador for the service and demonstrate sensitivity to the aims of the project and the organisation as a whole.

Based in Newhaven with travel across E. Sussex, car driver and owner preferred as many locations are rural and not served well by public transport. Post subject to DBS check.
